Bob Krause, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, received nearly twice as many votes as his closest competitor, Roxanne Conlin, in a poll conducted this past week by KNIA/KRLS radio stations at Knoxville.
More than 1, 600 votes were cast on the radio stations' web site with Krause receiving 62%, Conlin 35% and Tom Fiegen the remaining 3% .
"While this poll is not scientific, it is certainly valid as a show of strength," Krause asserted today. "It is clear that our supporters were more highly motivated than those of our opponents," said Krause. "I anticipate that we will see a similar level of enthusiasm going in to the primary election on June 8," he added.
Krause, a former state legislator who has also served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserves, has been campaigning around the state since he was the first candidate to announce last March.
